It's beginning to sound....

...a lot like Christmas. I'll admit it, I'm one of those people who starts listening to Christmas music 8 weeks before the holiday and I would decorate my house Christmas from Nov. 1-Dec.31 if my hubby would let me. But he doesn't oh well. I have even started my Christmas shopping. I would do it all on line if I could get free shipping on everything, but I usually can't manage that so I end up going to the store. And today I went to the mall. Talk about a mad house. I was so sick of people not watching where they're going and parents, not paying attention, letting a 3 yr. old who can't see over the top of the stroller run right into my shins, twice. Not cool people. Okay I'm done sounding scrooge like. :) I'm a nutso person that tries to have all the Christmas shopping done by Dec. 1. :) Some years I'm better at meeting that goal then others.

Unfortunately no baked goodies from Hubby this week. I did buy him a jelly roll pan so he can attempt to make a pumpkin roll. I'm looking forward to that. I googled jelly roll pan and its a cookie sheet with sides. Seriously. I told him it was a jelly roll pan and not a cookie sheet. I'll admit I'm a fan of what some people don't know doesn't hurt them. Esp. minor details.

This week was the 115th birthday of the x-ray! Its a little older than me and without it I wouldn't have a job. I can't/don't want to imagine where we would be with out it. Yikes. With the anniversary of the xray its also a very special week for radiology peeps. It's Radiological Technologist week, the week where rad. techs. are appreciated all the more. :) So we had some fun events at work. Crazy hat day, I absconded with Hubby's big foam cowboy hat. :) Breakfast served by management, lunch from the radiologist and the week ended with some inter department bowling. Well the only dept. that showed up was xray. So I guess we're the only ones who know how to have fun! :) I have come to the conclusion I don't know how to bowl very well and there is more technique to it other than just going to the lane and throwing the ball down and hoping the pins fall down. I did manage to score over 50 in the two games I bowled. And apparently there are more ettiqute rules than I'll ever be able to know. So if I offended anyone, I'm sorry and and ignorant. Maybe I'll learn better next time. :)

I greatly enjoy my job and love teaching the xray students. I love watching them grown in their knowledge, abilities, confidence and personalities as they learn and practice a profession I love. There isn't anything that I can describe when the light finally clicks in their noggin or they understand more about patient care and bond with a patient. And we have some fun too. I'm horrible for messing with the students minds and playing hopefully harmless jokes on them. And I like bring in goodies for when I do play a little trick on them. Like sending the student for sterile air or sterile fallopian tubes. It sounds plausible until you think about it. And as I've taught students I've learned more about the things I can't teach. I can't teach compassion, honesty, caring, patience, dignity, respect all the qualities a person who works in xray needs and not necessarily in xray but anyone who works in healthcare, I feel. I can tell my students that our patient is someone to somebody. Its someone's grandma, grandpa, husband, wife, sister, mom, dad, brother....You get the idea. I haven't figured out a good way to teach that yet and I'm always looking for ways to improve. It's can be kinda tough when your students are older and 14 inches taller than you! Yes this is true with this years class!

Okay enough about work. Good news the Las Vegas branch of the family will be joining us for Turkey Day and sticking around for a visit! :) Now if only I didn't have to work the day before and after the holiday. But at least I'm off a majority of the week after. :) I can't wait to see them, see how my nephew has changed and finally meet my (almost) 8 month old niece. As much as I love and enjoy all of my adpopted nieces and nephews I can't wait to see this nephew and niece. :)

Time to scavenger all the Black Friday deals! :)To all of my deer hunting friends may your aim be true and butt stay off the ground and not visiting me in ER.
