Bye bye summer

I can't belive its Labor Day weekend already. Holy moly where has this summer gone?? Looking back it feels like 4th of July was like yesterday. But onward, I suppose. This has been a hot and humid summer and I for one am ready for fall. Ready for hayrides, bonfires, football (high school and college), changing leaves, apples, a few more 5k's, apple cider, and all the fun things that fall brings, not to mention my birthday. (I couldn't resist.)

It has been 5 days since my dad had surgery and he is doing quite well. I'm listening to him snore right now. Surgery was approximately 2-2.5 hours long which was what I expected. My mom, Uncle Doug (mom's brother) and myself were at the hospital Monday. It was good to catch up with Uncle Doug and help to keep Mom's mind off dad. The longer the surgery was going the more quiet and worried she seemed. Around 11:30am he went upstairs to his room and we were able to see him. (Yay and much to mom's relief!) I got my dad a get well present. A coloring book and crayons. Yes I got my 55 year dad a kid's present. When my sister and I were sick Dad would bring home a coloring book and crayons so I figured he deserved one. The nurses all got a kick out of it and one even wanted a picture. Yes he did color in it. Which surprised me.

I can't begin to thank all the people who have sent cards, prayers, comments and thoughts while dad was in surgery, at the hospital and now as he is home recovering. They were all felt and much deserved. :) Thank you again!! :) :)

So for the first time in over 3 years I'm spending a couple nights at my parents house dad sitting while he recovers and my mom had to go to a wedding out of state. Yay. Its very quiet and I'll admit I do miss Scott a little bit. Okay a lot bit.

This week has primarily revolved around my dad. Which is alright with me he deserves all the attention after being in the estrogen ocean for 20+ years with my sister and I. Ha ha!!! :) :)

Okay off to make dinner for the old man and me. One advantage to him having surgery is lots of folks have dropped by and brought goodies. Home made goodies! Yum!!

Happy Labor Day People.
