It has been a busy Saturday for us today. Well more so for me. The day started early with the Race for the Cure, the GR branch of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. It was my sixth 5k for the year. Yes I've done 6 of them this year and have another one I'm registered for. Maybe I'm a bit insane.... Race for the Cure is my favorite one to do. Not only is there a lot of support on the sidelines but all the cheers and encouragement to keep going is absolutley wonderful. I love having someone to cheer for me as I hit the last stretch and it gives me the extra motivation to finish strong. Today is was my mom and my coach Emily from running group. Emily finished the race with me too. :) Also breast cancer runs in my family so I feel like its a small thing I could do to help combat this disease.
Then it was off to Shipshewana for a quick day trip. I love shipshe! No flea market today but the bulk food store and bluegate restaurant make are some of my favorite places. It was just nice to get away for the day and score some good deals at the bulk food store.
Home and off to a house warming/birthday party for a friend of ours. Its been a whirlwind day.
This week the big event here has been our roof. No it didn't spring a leak after the monsoon storm on Tuesday night! It has been replaced. Just in time for the snowy season. We had it done for us. Neither Scott or I are too big on heights. I don't fear them I just have a healthy respect for a fairly steep pitched roof. 2 and half days and the old shingles were ripped off and put back on plus ridge vents and something else I'm not remembering oh well. I'm happy no more sound of hammers or people above my head. It was a very satisfying feeling to be able to pay cash for our roof. One of our biggest paid in full purchases since we went thru FPU. Definitely worth it.
I'm rambling and want to see the last of the Tigers game. They may not reach the post season but they're still my team and Inge is my guy. Now on to the bottom of the 13th.....Go Tigers.
